In 1887, the sidewheeler "Olympian," out of Portland, Oregon, cruised Alaska's Inside Passage carrying sightseers. This travel album of 51 photographs records the voyage with shipboard scenes and views of the Treadwell Mine, Davidson Glacier, Muir Glacier, Sitka, and Fort Wrangell, Alaska, as well as [Old] Masset in the Queen Charlotte Islands. Scenes of Sitka are particularly well represented. While many of the photographs still have captions, a number of captions appear to have been lost when the pages were trimmed for binding.
